Tips for knitting dishcloths

Would you like to knit your own dishcloths? With these tips your homemade dishcloths will be of great quality and obviously look amazing!

Knitting level
You can make your knitted dishcloths as complex as you like, but you only need the basics to start. If you can knit and purl, you can make beautiful dishcloths!

Suitable patterns for dishcloths
When you choose a pattern for you dishcloth, it is good to keep a few things in mind. Firstly, choose a pattern that will not curl and the sides. The trick for a flat edge is a combination of knit and purl stitches that balance each other out. Also, look for a pattern that looks pretty on both sides, because you are going to see both sides of your dishcloth ๐Ÿ™‚ Lastly, a dishcloth with a nice structure not only looks beautiful, but also cleans well.

Shape
Most dishcloths are squares, but you donโ€™t have to make a square. Be creative. I like mine to be rectangular. That way, I can easiliy push the narrower side into mugs and glasses and hang the dishcloth over my kitchen faucet to dry without having to fold it.

Yarn choice
Relatively fine cotton yarn is perfect for knitting dishcloths. I like yarn with 26 stitches and 36 rows in 10 cm2 (or 4 inch2). Yarn like that is available in a multitude of colors and with just one ball of yarn, you are ready to go. I like to choose medium to dark colored yarn because I like tomato sauce ๐Ÿ˜‰
